Houston, TX – Sister act THE SONFLOWERZ shined brightly at the 33rd annual GMA (Gospel Music Association) Music In The Rockies competitions held July 29 – August 4, 2007. This acoustic-rock band, led by sisters Becca and Elissa Leander from Colorado Springs, CO went home with top honors having taken first place in the “Vocal Duo” competition and, not surprisingly, went on to be the judges’ pick for “Best Over-All Vocal Group”.

Heads were definitely turned as they took the stage for their final performance of the competitions with the song “Like No One Else”, which was written by Elissa earlier this year before they left for their 4th UK Tour. “The message of the song is that God loves us like no one else, and while we spent a week visiting a British boarding school, the students totally embraced the song. Some of them had never known God’s love, and it was amazing to see them get a revelation of the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.” Says Becca.

This past week has proven to be an encouraging one for these talented and dedicated young women as they also received news that their radio single “Move Me” hit #4 on the European Christian Music charts, coming in above major label artists Stephen Curtis Chapman, Kutless and Audio Adrenaline.

As the saying goes, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”, it is true THE SONFLOWERZ have definitely taken several GIANT steps on this journey.
