This changes everything

“More salt mommy, please?”

My three year old son would often ask for a pinch of salt in his hand at the dinner table. If scrambled eggs or avocados did not have salt, he probably wouldn’t eat it. This one seemingly magical ingredient – SALT – changed everything on his plate from tasteless to perfectly inviting!

He is not the only one who has valued salt to be something extravagant. Centuries ago, Roman soldiers were paid in salt. Back in the day before refrigerators, salt was used to preserve food and any army with salt could carry food a long distance while conquering its enemy.

Salt is an important component in your body as well, helping you to retain water essential for life and making you exceptionally thirsty!

When Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth.” He wanted to point to your significance, how vital you are in bringing hope to a dying world and creating a thirst for the word of God. As your life displays the real love and grace of God to others, they become aware that they need God too.

Jesus went on to say, “But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew‬ 5:13‬ (NIV‬‬)

What does your life taste like? When you have left a room, do people feel hopeful, encouraged and even a desire for God?

God’s life inside of you is exactly what the world is desperate for. Boldly bring out the flavor of God’s love and hope in your relationships – it changes everything! A taste of God’s kindness will transform any heart.

Keep shining!
