One of my favorite things about Colorado is the MASSIVE sky. From almost anywhere, I can see for miles. Picture a bright blue sky, contrasting with the dark shades of mountain ranges. This kind of openness is a gift to experience.
I love the cities of New York, L.A., San Diego, Kansas City, Dallas, Orlando, and Nashville, but when I land back at 6,000 feet Colorado elevation something is different. I stand on a hillside and see for miles. It brings a deep sense of peace. I feel free, and I think it’s a taste of what God desires for my life, and yours.
A wide-open space. Isn’t that what your soul craves? Isaiah 61 says that the Lord calls us to set captives free. Captives don’t have much space to live with. They are stuck.
“He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me.” – Psalm 18:19
We are the captives, until we arrive in the open space. Now free, we experience grace and peace that never runs out.
Have you ever stopped to think about the beliefs you hold in your heart? You will become what you believe. If you believe God is good, and the creator of the open space, you will follow Him to a place that your soul thrives.
If you believe that His plans are perfect (though they may not make sense to us) and you are not alone – despite that frequent feeling of being unnoticed (which we all feel sometimes) that will be your reality and you’ll live without boundaries.
Do you believe God desires your life to be an abundant, open space that you can thrive within?
I do. Yet, we settle for a dark hole sometimes.
We let fear, doubt, pain, anger, discouragement, self-hatred and isolation build high walls, giving little space for our souls to breathe. But trusting in this good God who has a mission for you, His daughter, is the way of escape.
I don’t know about you, but I want to live in a wide-open space, free to live the life God intended for me, shedding all the burdens I was never meant to carry. What will it take? Each of us has an everyday choice to believe God, believe His word, and trust in His direction.
What’s contributing to the captivity? What is God saying to you about this freedom your soul longs for?
This spacious expanse is not just for a few lucky Christians who say and do all the right things, only to reach a level that none of us could achieve. God’s grace enables all of us to arrive there.
This spacious place is God’s desire for you. Connected to Him. Unconstrained by self. You are free.
